My Life Story-Part-27
Life changing medical crisis turned my world upside down, forcing me to act with courage, sacrifice everything, and fight to save a life.
When a Single Night Changes the Direction of Life

Life often moves forward quietly, day after day, without any major turning points. But sometimes a single incident can suddenly change the direction of everything.
For me, one such moment arrived unexpectedly on a night that I will never forget.
By that time, my husband’s alcohol addiction had already created severe instability in our home. His drinking had become frequent and uncontrollable. The household finances were nearly destroyed, and the emotional atmosphere in the family had become increasingly difficult.
Yet despite all the struggles, I still continued trying to hold the family together.
I believed that perhaps one day he might realize the consequences of his behavior and change.
But the night that followed revealed just how deep the addiction had become.
The Fall That Triggered a Medical Emergency in Life Changing Medical Crisis
One evening, my husband had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol and was lying on the bed in a heavily intoxicated state.
This was not unusual anymore. His drinking had become so frequent that such situations had sadly become part of our daily life.
However, that night something different happened.
While attempting to move, he suddenly fell from the bed onto the floor.
At first, I thought it might simply be another consequence of intoxication.
But within a short time, I realized that the situation was far more serious.
The fall had caused a significant injury to the right side of his head. A blood clot had formed within the scalp, and shortly afterward he began experiencing seizures (fits).
Watching someone experience seizures is terrifying, especially when you are unsure what to do next.
The seizures occurred repeatedly, one after another.
At that moment, fear replaced everything else.
Acting Quickly in the Middle of Panic
Despite everything that had happened between us, I knew that immediate medical attention was necessary.
There was no time to hesitate.
With the help of my younger brother, we arranged for an ambulance as quickly as possible. Our home was located approximately 40 kilometers away from PSG Hospitals, one of the major medical institutions in the region.
The journey to the hospital felt extremely long.
Inside the ambulance, my mind was filled with worry and confusion. I was not thinking about past arguments or painful memories.
In that moment, I was simply a human being trying to save another human life.
The Doctor’s Serious Diagnosis
When we arrived at the hospital, the medical team immediately began evaluating his condition.
After conducting the necessary examinations and scans, the doctors delivered their diagnosis.
They explained that the head injury had caused a blood clot and that surgery would be necessary to prevent further complications and stop the seizures.
Without surgical intervention, the situation could become life-threatening.
Hearing the word “surgery” in such circumstances is overwhelming for anyone.
But the challenge I faced was even greater.
I had no money at all. Understanding proper medical emergency response can help save lives and reduce risks during critical situations.
Facing Financial Desperation in Life Changing Medical Crisis
Standing in the hospital at that moment, I felt completely helpless.
The doctors had clearly explained that surgery was essential, but my financial situation was empty.
I had zero money in my hands.
When someone faces a medical emergency without financial resources, the emotional pressure becomes almost unbearable.
I approached several relatives from my husband’s side of the family and asked for help.
I pleaded with them to support the surgery.
But unfortunately, none of them were willing to assist.
They simply said they could not help.
That moment revealed another painful truth about life.
Sometimes, when we need support the most, we find ourselves standing completely alone.

Selling Everything to Save a Life
With no financial support available, I had to make a decision.
Earlier, several vehicles that once belonged to our household had already been sold due to the financial problems caused by addiction.
But a few resources still remained.
In order to save my husband’s life, I sold the remaining vehicles.
The money from those sales was used to pay the hospital bills and arrange the necessary treatment.
Eventually, the surgery was performed.
Fortunately, the operation was successful.
After the surgery, the doctors placed him under observation for 15 days to monitor his recovery and ensure that the seizures had stopped.
Twenty Days of Devoted Care
During those hospital days, something remarkable happened.
Despite all the suffering I had endured during our marriage, I chose to care for him with full dedication.
For twenty days, I remained at the hospital and looked after him almost like a child.
I assisted the nurses, monitored his condition, ensured that he received proper care, and stayed by his side throughout the recovery period.
In those moments, I was not thinking about the pain he had caused me.
I was acting simply as a wife and as a human being fulfilling her responsibility.
But in the process of caring for him, I made a mistake that I would only realize later.
Forgetting My Own Children
While I was focused entirely on my husband’s treatment, I temporarily forgot something extremely important.
My children.
At that time, my younger daughter was only one year old, and my elder daughter was three years old.
They were still very small.
Yet during those twenty days at the hospital, my entire attention was directed toward my husband’s survival.
I did not think about whether my children had eaten properly, whether they were sleeping peacefully, or who was taking care of them at home.
My mind was completely focused on saving my husband.
Looking back today, I understand that this was a mistake.
My children should have been my first priority.
But at that time, my emotional state was overwhelmed by the medical crisis.
The Judgment of Society
While I was dedicating myself to his recovery in the hospital, people in the village began talking.
Some criticized my decision to focus entirely on my husband.
They questioned why I had left my young children behind while trying to save someone who had caused so much pain.
At that time, their words did not affect me.
My mind was focused only on completing the surgery and ensuring his recovery.
But later, when I had time to reflect, I began to understand their perspective.
That realization would become an important lesson in my life.

A Turning Point Was Approaching
After nearly twenty days of treatment and observation, the doctors finally decided that he was stable enough to be discharged from the hospital.
An ambulance was arranged to bring him home.
At that moment, I believed that perhaps this medical crisis might become a turning point.
I hoped that surviving such a serious incident might convince him to change his life.
Perhaps the experience of surgery and hospitalization might encourage him to stop drinking.
Perhaps our life could finally become stable.
But what happened next would completely shatter that hope.
And it would lead me toward one of the most important decisions I would ever make.
